EDMOND — Edmond Amateur Radio Society members will host a 24-hour exercise starting at noon Saturday, offering a demonstration on new capabilities with ham radios.
People will have an opportunity to talk across the world on the air, and observe how ham radio operators use their computers and digital messaging.
This weekend's field day winds up Amateur Radio Week, which is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, the national association for amateur radio.
More than 35,000 amateur radio operators across the country participated in last year's field day.
“The fastest way to turn a crisis into a total disaster is to lose communications,” said Allen Pitts, of the American Radio Relay League.
