EDMOND — Members of the Edmond Public Transportation Committee are interested in creating a trust that would accept donations to the city's bus system.
They have asked City Attorney Steve Murdock to look into the legalities of creating a trust to help pay for a system now funded by sales tax money, grants and payments from the University of Central Oklahoma for use by the students.
“You never know when Aunt Bessie may have been riding the paratransit bus and leave us some money,” committee member Marc Weinmeister said.
Members also are interested in selling advertising space on the buses to help operate the city's 12-bus fleet.
City council members on Monday will consider transferring an additional $52,958 to pay for fuel that was not included in last year's budget.
